Porsche is actually an engineering company, the car was making as a sideline to. The concept is that society should be run by engineers, business people who are not doing enough to increase profits for shareholders. From what I've never tried low a large factory, thousands of cars that cost enough to share with the current cars on the market handle competing to build. If you back the time before the automotive industry there was not a consulting firm created by the Porsche-projects for the automotive companies, governments, etc. after the 2nd World War, was held when the company Porsche was founded, the oldest child of the advice was arrested (but would be incorporated in other ways years later). What Porsche has become a mature companies often claimed an engineering department as normal for the size of your business (but with a recent cuts in the last 5 years or less, which is probably not true). Employees of large engineering have been allowed to continue the production of many basic, projects and careers. To justify the large staff off-peak hours, they would be outside of the engineering for almost all companies (Harley Davidson is probably the most striking is why Classic Harley looks like piston-cylinder and engine noise, like the Porsche, with many of the BMW X5 , etc ...).
Porsche nearly joins the work done for VW, though most of this is in conformity with the design of a doorknob, aMeetings airbox, etc., and not a little crowded in a car. They were hired to drive a sports car from Audi in the 70's design, and they have ... Audi, but later decide you do not want the finished car (Porsche, which is then sold as a Porsche 924).

Porsche Design only. Toureg shares of the same platform with the Cayenne, but the project has not yet Toureg Porsche. Why a design competition car? It simply makes no sense.

Developed 1 or 2 Porsche VW in the 60s and 70s. VW All the others were developed by VW. Porsche and VW share some engine parts and chassis.
